"VimpelCom" expands and modernizes its own backbone network

The mobile operator "Beeline and Ciena Corporation today announced a strategic agreement under which will be carried out modernization and expansion of backbone fiber optic network.

Developed by Ciena 6500 Packet-Optical Platform with coherent optical processors WaveLogic, will be deployed in parts of the network with a total length of over 10,700 km. The agreement provides for the modernization of the backbone network "Moscow - Ural" and "Ural - Siberia", the southern part of the network in the western part of Russia ("Great European Ring") and 100G network construction in the Far East.
